BESTPRAC Thematic group meeting | March 2023
BESTPRAC Thematic Group Meeting
Sun Hall Hotel, Larnaca, Cyprus
March 28-29, 2023
We are pleased to announce the second meeting of the BESTPRAC Thematic group, which will take place at the Sun Hall Hotel, in Larnaca, Cyprus, on March 28-29, 2023!
Thank you to Andri Charalambous from The Cyprus Institute - Climate and Atmosphere Research Center (CARE-C) for acting as local organizer of our meeting!
After three very successful virtual meetings BESTPRAC and EARMA jointly organised, the collaboration between the two networks has taken a step further and in 2022 BESTPRAC has become a thematic group within EARMA. You can read more about the cooperation between the two networks here. We have already organized one in person event in Belgrade in September 2022 and are hoping to repeat its success in Cyprus!
You can download the updated preliminary programme here.
Following the experience of our previous BESTPRAC in person meetings, we are preparing a full agenda, starting from March 28 at 9.00 and ending on March 29 by 13.30 (local time), hopefully giving you enough time to return home on the same day if you wish to do so.
BESTPRAC meetings continue to be an open and inclusive space for sharing best practices among the RMAs, also aiming at providing guidance to the most relevant topics identified by our community. We are preparing a combination of plenary sessions and parallel sessions, whereas one parallel session will be dedicated exclusively to financial topics, while the other will cover non-financial topics in grant writing and project management.
In case you are interested to attend the meeting, please fill out the online registration form of the parallel session you would like to attend:
- Registration form for WG1: General (Administration/Management & Legal)
- Registration form for WG2: Finance
Previous participation in BESTPRAC or EARMA activities is not a prerequisite for participation at the meeting. A person does not have to be am EARMA member to participate in the meeting.
The meeting will be limited to 100 participants, 50 in WG1 and 50 in WG2.
The participants will be selected on a "first come, first served" basis. Please do not register for the meeting if you are not serious about attending as you will prevent other people from doing so.
Participants will receive confirmation regarding their participation after filling out the registration form, after which they can start making travel arrangements. If the 100 places have already been filled by the time you register, you will be put on the waiting list and notified if / when a spot opens.
If you register and would like to cancel your participation you may do so until 13 March 2023 by sending an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org. If the participant cancels after the cancellation deadline OR no-shows to the event, the participant is at risk of being blocked from registering for and attending future similar opportunities.
There is no participation fee for this meeting. However, since the network is no longer supported by external funding, participants will unfortunately have to cover their own costs of stay.
We hope this does not dissuade you from attending and you are able to find a way to fund your participation. On the previous meeting in Belgrade, we have had RMAs come on an Erasmus+ mobility or fund their participation through national funding programmes aimed at increasing capacity for participation in competitive research projects, so do research if your institution or region / country has possibilities for covering your costs!
We are especially hoping to reach the RMA community from Cyprus.
You can find a short Practical guide for participants to help you organize your stay here.
The local organizer managed to secure special prices for participants of the meeting at the hotel where the meeting is taking place. You can read more in the Practial guide and book your stay using this Reservation form.
