Description of job and tasks involved
I'm currently in charge of International contracts at Fundacion Sant Joan de Deu (FSJD). FSJD is a Non-for-profit fundacion that handle all the research contracts for the two Sant Joan de Deu hospitals of Barcelona (pediatric and mental health).
I am responsible for the post-award phase of International research projects. My expertise is ranging from legal (grant agreement, consortium agreement, amendments and contracts negotiation), financial (cost models, reporting, time sheets, eligibility of cost) and administrative issues (participant portal, interface with coordinators/researchers/internal services, RH issues..).
My tasks are the following:
- Administration of european contracts on the participant portal
- Negotiation of grant agreement, consortium agreement and amendments
- Financial reporting (financial statements, internal guidelines, reporting, justification documents and audits...)
- Internal administration: RH issues, driving projects managers

Hospital Sant Joan de Déu-Barcelona Children’s Hospital (HSJD) is one of the leading medical centres in Europe for childhood and adolescence and offers a comprehensive and multidisciplinary approach to health care from birth through 18 years of age. HSJD is a private not-for-profit centre, working mainly for the National Health System offering the public contracted services. HSJD combines basic general paediatrics with specialized care for all tertiary-level paediatric pathologies, covering a paediatric population of 200,000 children. Annually it attends more than 3.200 births, 25,470 in-patient admissions and 120,835 emergencies (representing 17% of paediatric population of Catalonia), with 306 beds, 134 outpatient rooms and 13 Operating rooms. Parc Sanitari Sant Joan de Deu (PSSJD) is a private non-profit institution that includes a general hospital and a large network of mental health services which provides comprehensive mental health and disability services, including neurodegenerative diseases. Its served area approximately includes one million people. It also focuses on bringing together basic research scientists and research clinicians in the areas of public health, mental disorders and disability. It includes geriatrics long-term care institutions and has one of the nodes of the national brain banks, specifically devoted to psychiatric disorders. The institution also develops new health care services, as home care for persons with severe disability or telemedicine. It is a University Hospital linked with the University of Barcelona and provides pre and post-graduate education in health sciences. The Teaching, Research and Innovation Unit of PSSJD is organized in 3 research groups: 1) Etiopathogenesis and treatment of severe mental disorders; 2) Impact, risk and prevention of mental disorders and 3) Research on healthcare technologies and results in primary healthcare and mental health. Multidisciplinary, the cautious observation of ethical principles and the harmonization of research and health care delivery are three of the characteristic traits of the investigation at PSSJD.
Fundación Sant Joan de Déu (FSJD) is linked to HSJD and PSSJD , with a legal agreement dated from 2005. This legal agreement was articulated in the following sections: Development of research and innovation projects, collaboration agreements with third parties in the field of research and optimization of general resources and economic management. FSJD is a non-profit foundation, by means of which it is in charge of handling the financial and administrative aspects of the research activities of the beneficiary and providing scientific support. With 27 active European projects, the international office handles both pre and post award issues regarding all aspects of project submission, administration and management.
