Tampere University of Technology (TUT) is established in 1965. It focuses exclusively on graduate education and research with 7,900 students (2016), 1600 co-workers and 5 faculties. TUT focuses on research that applies technology for the benefit of people and environment. TUT’s research profile is combined of four areas: Digital operating environment, Energy- and eco-efficiency, Health technology & Light-based technologies.
TUT’s administration model is centralized, also in research administration. The Research Services is located in the Support Services. The Research Services provide help and support in both project application phase (pre award) and in project administration and management (post award). Support and help to project administration is provided mainly through training via network of project reporters consisting of 20 financial administrative assistants from the 5 different faculties. But also a lot of individual/single project support is provided. The Research Services, together with other central units (Financial Services, Human Resources), takes care of adjusting the internal practices of the university to correspond the requirements of both national and international research project funding regulation. However, in each unit, the researchers and research groups are responsible of the project administration themselves, with help of financial administrative assistants located in their units. For examples the Financial Statements of different research project are being prepared in the units by the financial administrative assistants.
