Description of job and tasks involved
As head of the Research Co-ordination Office I stimulate and coach my staff to assist and help professors, postdoctoral researchers as well as PhD students in their attempts to find funding to do the research activities they have planned. Part of my staff focuses on funding through the EU framework programmes.
Part of my job consists of helping to solve “problems” related to the execution of research activities, mainly the financial part of it, especially in case of reporting to the project co-ordinator and to the EU or other funding agencies.
Experience in European research projects
At Ghent University we have experience in nearly all previous framework programmes and are currently also starting to build up experience in the H2020 framework programme. In addition we also participate in projects funded by Interreg programmes, by ESF, ESOF, ESA, NIH, NSF, …

As part of the central administration, the Research Department is responsible for advising and supporting the professors and researchers in their efforts to do research. Within the Research Departments, three units are defined: the university library office, the Technology transfer office and the Research co-ordination office.
