The Centre for the promotion of science is a government institution competent for the promotion and the popularization of science. The Centre was created in spring 2010, and its establishment enacted by the Law on Scientific research (“Official Gazette of the Republic of Serbia” No. 18/10). After officially becoming recognized as a public institution (registered on 23rd November 2010), pursuant to the Law, the Centre took competence over the promotion of science from the competent ministry. The CPN is part of the overall strategic plan for the development of Serbia as a knowledge based economy, constant innovation and networking being its essential resources.
Since its establishment in 2010, the Center for the Promotion of Science has been actively developing its international cooperation. This started by our engagement in related European and global associations, participation on conferences and various events which bring together similar organizations, and execution of joint plans and programmes. At the same time we started participating in project consortiums and applications. The first project in which the Center took part was the 2012 Researchers’ Night named “FRIEND2YOU”, funded through the European Commission’s FP7 Programme. After taking part in the first, the Center significantly developed its cooperation with partners on other projects. It continued to actively participate in, and also apply for projects financed under various EU programmes, like FP7, LLP Comenius, Erasmus+, Creative Europe, COST and Horizon 2020. The Center regularly takes part in a significant number of projects since 2014. They focus on a variety of topics such as (non)formal science education, science communication, the application of Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI) concept, gender framework, ethics, interdisciplinary cooperation between scientists and artists. The role of a research administrator in CPN is following all procedures and administrative issues in bout phases (pre-award and post-award phases), support in preparation of the financial report, monitoring and control of financial reporting.
