Description of job and tasks involved
I am deputy director at the Latvian Institute of Organic Synthesis (IOS) in Riga. My duties are administrative, financial and legal management of IOS, so I am also responsible for ensuring the administrative, legal and financial management of the EU projects implemented by IOS.

Latvian IOS was established on 2nd of January, 1957 to perform research in organic chemistry, molecular biology and bioorganic chemistry. IOS is an independent public research institute with ~300 employees today and yearly budget of about 14 MEUR.
IOS has long and positive experience in drug design and technology development, namely 17 original drugs were discovered and introduced into the market, more than 70 original preparation methods of known medicines were invented.
IOS has several departments and administrative positions responsible for administrative, legal and financial support of research projects. These are Project development department (3 employees), Accounting and financial department (4employees), IPR manager, Procurement department (3 employees), Personnel department (2 employees).
