The Nuremberg Institute of Technology (Nuremberg Tech) is a university in Germany (region Bavaria, City of Nuremberg). It is internationally well known for its achievements in the field of engineering and other technical scientific disciplines. Georg Simon Ohm, the physicist who discovered the famous Law of Ohm, is a former director of the university. Meanwhile the Nuremberg Tech is the second largest state-run university of applied sciences in Bavaria, Germany. Organized in 12 departments, 10 institutes (regular as well as affiliated) and 9 interdisciplinary research centers, the university has 12.518 students and 308 professors. Around 1,000 students graduate each year at the Nuremberg Tech. In 2013, as one of only four universities of applied sciences in Bavaria, the THN awarded the status of a Technical University by the Bavarian State Ministry of Science. Furthermore, it is one of the most successful universities of applied sciences throughout Germany in terms of raising third party RTD funding.

Research administration is mostly carried out within one centrally organized Research Services Team, comprising 7 specialists from legal to science communication. Research Services reports via the Vice President for Research Affairs to Nuremberg Techs Management.
