Since my appointment as the Research Programmes Manager of the Institute I am responsible for the management and administration of all research grants of the institute (both national and international) from the early stages of the proposal writing to the submission of the final report.
My organisation (The Cyprus Institute of Neurology and Genetics) as a non-profit organisation has created (2000) the Research Programmes Office for the better monitoring and management of all research grants of the Institute’s researchers. All researchers need to get the approval of the Chief Executive Medical Director and the Financial and Administrative Director before applying for any research grant. In order to get this the proposal needs to be approved by the Research Programmes Office (in accordance with the internal regulations on Research Grants applications).
Following the approval of any research grant the administration, and financial monitoring of the research grant is carried out by the scientific coordinator of the grant in collaboration with the research office. From the negotiation of the grant agreement, budget and contract modifications/amendments, financial and other reports, IP agreements etc.
