Description of job and tasks involved

I mainly work in the pre-award phase, meaning that I help researchers identifying relevant funding opportunities (one-to-one meetings, information sessions, etc), I help them write proposals, prepare the budget. If the proposal is successful, I keep on supporting them until the grant agreement is signed.

Since my University is part of a Community of Universities and Institutions called Université Côte d’Azur, I take part in the meetings of the EU contact points of each Community’s member. I have also written a COFUND proposal for the Community and I am currently involved in the resubmission of this COFUND proposal.

Experience with European research projects

I started with managing an FP7 project and then advising researchers in H2020 projects (Pillars 1 and 3). Since I have moved to France, I also work with Interreg proposals (the ones we are elligible for, namely ALCOTRA, MED, Marittimo and Alpine Space) and ERDF, EMFF and ENI proposals.

The Université Nice Sophia Antipolis (UNS) is a multi-disciplinary University. Founded in 1965, it has establishments throughout the Alpes Maritimes in Nice, Cannes, Menton and Grasse, and is a key player in the Sophia Antipolis technological cluster. Each year it welcomes over 25,000 students, of whom around 1,300 are doctorates and almost 20% from abroad, distributed throughout various campuses and training and research units (UFR).

It has a staff of over 2,700: over 1,600 teachers, professors-researchers and tutors, and over 1,100 administrative staff (library staff, engineers, administrative and technical staff, service or health workers). Around 200 theses are defended each year in the UNS.

Research support is done by the Department for Research and Valuation (DRV). The Contracts and Valuation Office is in charge of all research contracts (private and or public except for the grant agreements), whereas the Project Development Support Office is in charge of all pre-award related matters (identifying funding opportunities, setting up funding strategies, preparing budgets, supporting researchers while they apply for grants, preparing grant agreements for signature).
